miSport has broken ground on a brand new Factory site in India. Situated in Dehradun, north of Delhi, the purpose built facility will cover over 56,000sqft and will act as miSport’s global manufacturing hub and corporate headquarters for India. Dehradun, the state capital of Uttaranchal is well known as a centre for advanced education and is serviced by excellent transport links to Delhi and the rest of India.

The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by miSport Board Member, and India Patron, Dr.H.K. Rawal and miSport CEO, Richard Welch. As a mark of respect to the local community the ceremony included both Hindu and Christian prayers.

Speaking at the ceremony Welch explained that “miSport’s control of its means of production had always been a key plank of the company’s strategy and will play a major role in ensuring the ongoing innovative edge and competitiveness of our products.”

An exciting feature of the development is the incorporation of a cricket field within the site. The field has been designed as an exact scale reproduction of the Home of Cricket - Lords Cricket Ground in London and will be used for miSport’s extensive testing and R&D programme.

It’s a real milestone day for the business, and it’s establishes beyond any doubt our commitment to the value proposition we are taking to our customers.” said Welch. “It’s an exciting day for all involved.”
